Hurricane Harvey Log
So, the last payment on my car that I lost in the tax day floods was autodrafted today. There is something sickeningly poetic to that. I was upside down on what I owed vs what the insurance covered and it has taken me from April 18th, 2016 through today to pay off that debt, in addition to my replacement car note.

I'm a Houston girl.
I was born in Pasadena. I've lived in the Nassau Bay, League City, Galveston, Uptown, Jersey Village and Sugar Land areas. I've worked in Clear Lake, the Energy Corridor, the Woodlands and the Hobby area. Houston is my city.
It crushes me to see what this storm has done to my city, my family and my friends. We aren't out of the woods yet, but the storm is moving eastward. I haven't left my street in 3 days. The infrastructure is flooded and eroded. We will likely be stranded in our home for days if not weeks to come. Assuming we do not have to be evacuated.
The local and national news is soul crushing. We have maintained power and running water, we are still dry, the flood water has barely passed the curb in front of our house, but it isn't receding. We feel helpless. Even if we make it out unscathed, our city is drowning.
They are calling this the 500 year flood, it will go down in history as being one of the largest natural disasters we have ever faced as a city, as a state, and depending on the aftermath and recovery, as a country.
I do not have high hopes for the rest of the week, but I have complete and utter faith in my city that we will recover, we will rebuild and we will return.
