First Silicone & Resin Casts

I used Smooth-On Mold Star 16 Fast to cast my clay sculpture, regretfully, I didn't take any photos of the clay figure. The silicone took about 30 min to cure, and I learned some very important lessons regarding appendages and spacial reasoning. The ears broke off and had to be dug out. I knew this would mean I either could not use the mold, or could try and likely have to ruin it to get the figure out.

This is my first toy, a rudimentary version of my Snog. I was right, I did have to cut the mold in order to pull this guy out. The resin I used was Smooth-On Smooth-Cast 325, which only took about 10 minutes to cure. I mixed in a pearlescent white colorant and black and iridescent glitter. The ears nearly got broken off when I initially tried to pull it out of the cast, luckily I gave in and cut the mold.

I made a clay figure back in November of 2015, in an attempt to mentally prepare of this, I can't believe it took me nearly a year to get to the the resin figure, but I'm glad I did. I can't wait to try it again!
